Brett Calhoun founded Flyover Tech after seeing the problem within our flyover communities of folks having trouble accessing knowledge and networks. Our flyover communities are small yet mighty, but with the recent advancements in the future of work, a community in Columbia, MO, can be just as interconnected to a community in Columbus, OH. Together flyover communities can build a Silicon Valley effect in Bootstrap Valley.
Brett Calhoun is the Managing Director and a Partner at Redbud VC, building and investing in early-stage tech startups with a focus on the Midwest. Brett's passion is helping founders access capital, knowledge, and network effects. He is particularly interested in founders building in fintech and proptech. His role at Redbud is sourcing & investing in rockstar founders, running fund ops, raising from & maintaining relationships with LPs, and working on the front lines with each company.
Brett is also an operator as a Co-Founder of CharlieMike, where he has helped over 850 veterans purchase a home, and a founding team member of CapGains, a platform simplifying tax incentives. Previously, Brett was an early ops employee at Paytient and a Summer Associate at The LegalTech Fund. Before investing, Brett worked with small businesses to Fortune 100 companies on complex valuation matters. Brett is also a CPA, ABV, and a Crosby MBA from the University of Missouri.
